Back from hell( OBS). 5 days of hardcore well, mixed feelings of angst and happiness
Day 1
arrived at punggol obs assembly ground, took a ferry to pulau ubin island where our campsite was. Impressive it was a great campsite, toilets clean, environment was neat. Instructor name was Mr. Khoo KiahHong. and our group name was named after a guy called Munshi Abdullah. haha our camp flag turned out to be "Mushi" where say jye accidentally spelt it wrongly. haha our group was really funny , Tze Hao was a source of let's say bonding and joke at the same time yea.
Lunch were dry rations biscuits which i was a bit disappointed. As for dinner it was good rice gravy and chicken wing were well grilled.
As for activities, we did the trust fall, where one must fall from a height down to a blanket held by his own teamates. We also did low elements, but the best part was camping in the woods. We had to pitch our tents in the woods. My tentmates were 3 plp, One of which is ryan wee from church, and the other 2 i have never heard of- Eugene and Gerry. Although they may have a fierce outward appearance, they were actually nice plp deep down. As for today we got to bath luckily but the worst thing was we had to pack our bags for kayaking the next 3 days -.-"
Day 2
woke up at 5:45 am pitch down our tent. Breakfast was again dry rations. We headed down to the elements area. I paired up with daniel png to do the hardest of the high elements, the inverse tower, a.k.a. the "DDD" ( Double Duo Dread) here's a simplified diagram on how it looks like
basically one has to climb on logs along with his teamate to the top. As it gets higher, the gap between the logs get further apart. Let me tell you, its really not easy, but me and daniel png reached the top yay :D
Next, kayaking. today kayaked only about 2.5 km from OBS campsite to Punggol assembly ground. Lunch was thrown from the mother safety boat to our kayaks for lunch haha. my kayak partner was Tze Hao. We made a great team, except at times Tze Hao played around and grabbed on the other plp boat to get a free ride.
As for dinner it was own cooked food. Solid fuel etc blah blah. yea
Day 3
Woke up at 6 pm. Breakfast was Dry Rations again !!! this time kayaked from punggol to Sembawang total 10.6 km as usual lunch from mother safety boat. Dinner solid fuel and Tze Hao my partner.
Day 4
last day of kayaking, woke up at 5: 15 am . Breakfast was DRY RATIONS!!!! RAWR!
From Sembaawang kayaked back to Obs camp site of a total of 13.1 km. We were now the top record scorer for kayaking. It was MGS who set the record of kayaking 4h 15 min for kayaking back to the campsite, whereas we guys took 3h 50 min Great job guys! :)
Lunch was same thing again lar.
Dinner was great this time. Although we cooked on our own again, i did most of the cooking and chopping and cleaning up. it was fun cause we were doing this together, many plp also said that my cooking was really good. thx for the compliments guys ! :) really appreciated.
as for today we did not need to pitch our tents
total kayaking distance = 26.2 km
Day 5
well i hate to admit it, but it was the last day i didn't want to go home it was so much fun as the camp progressed. I remembered on day 1 i wanted to go home but it got better and better.
Conclusion: deep down i really enjoyed going through this camp. Thx Mr.KiahHong for being a great instructor for us all the time. We really appreciated the things you've done and made our life easier.
As for my groupmates, i hope we learn sth new about each other. Moreover, if there's a future camp y not camp together again?
Lastly to my tentmates, you guys must learn how to pitch tents next time i camp with your hor! make yourself a bit more useful ok? ^^
p.s. i have decided to put back my cbox
